This Games Room project was a great change of use for an existing space. This project was in conjunction with a larger extension being undertaken on the residence by Craig and the team at CDW Building which freed up the existing garage to create more space inside the home by turning it into a Games Room.
The condition of the existing concrete in this space was tired from the wear and tear of being solely used as a garage, and had some areas that needed patching and leveling around where the roller door recess once was.
The garage floor all be it fairly level, the grinding process removed any high areas and ensured the surface was completely flat. The clients in this case were wanting only a small amount of exposed aggregate, so the top layer of the concrete was removed to show random areas of exposed aggregate and other areas with no stone exposure. This level of stone exposure is known as Minimal Exposure.
The exposed concrete floor was then grouted to fill in any pin holes and fine lines that existed in the concrete, to produce a smooth level surface. From there the concrete floor was densified to harden the concrete surface. The concrete floor was then polished to a Matte Finish, and finished with two coats of penetrating sealer making it stain and slip resistant.
The end product is a beautiful polished concrete floor in the Family's Games Room, that is stain and slip resistant, hard wearing and low maintenance for them to enjoy.
This polished concrete floor was polished using the PYRAFloor Polishing System. This system is a process which hardens and protects and seals the concrete floor for durability, long lasting, low maintenance space which is slip resistant and stain resistant.
